Optus said: "It's an excellent time and opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts and well-wishes with visitors to Federation Square". The SMS (Short Message Service) user will have their text message promptly screened and replied to with an automated message. Currently the reply may say "Thank you. Your SMS message will be seen on the Amber display". However this may be modified by Federation Square Management (FSM) to suit an occasion. Unless the message is rejected due to "inappropriate content" it will be displayed very soon after a reply comes through to your phone. FSM can also override individual groups to display a myriad of alternative messages such as event or promotional messages. Messages scroll across red, amber, green and blue wide angle LED signs of various lengths with a 150mm character height that can be read from up to 80 meters away. The Optus Message Board is available 24/7. Messages can be sent from any mobile network. Text your message to 19 767 333 (19 SMS FED) and your message will be displayed for all to see. Premium SMS charged at 55c incl. GST.
